This is the planned final volume of William Manchester's trilogy about the life of Winston Churchill. It is currently being completed at the request of the late Manchester by Paul Reid, a former feature writer for Cox Newspapers. Manchester died at the age of 82 on June 1, 2004, after suffering for several years from a stroke. Before he died, he chose Reid to complete the work.[2]
The third volume will focus on Churchill's years as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Second World War.
